Review - Flashguns, London, Club Fandango @ The Wilmington Arms, 04.04.08
It took months to Klaxons to deliver good live sets – how long will it take to Flashguns to reach their highest potential ? Soon-to-be anthems House of Flowers, Locarno and St George give us a good clue about what Flashguns are capable of, and frontman Sam Johnston’s huge charisma lightens the dark venue better than all those cute romantic lightbulbs hanging around the stage. Maybe that’s why his bandmates seem to be slightly absent on stage – rivalling all the attention the frontman gets is hard ! Keyboardist Olly Scanlon seems more confident, and the rest of the band is obviously catching up. Flashguns far outweigh Klaxons : in no time, it will be hard to keep your eyes off of them on stage, any of them !!
